affirming deity. With this collection of portraits, I honor some of the multitude of LGBTQIA+ Icons we humans are so blessed to have in our culture, through the use of iconography.
The rainbow spectrum used in my work, has a two fold meaning.
First PRIDE, always PRIDE, it is magnificent.
Second, sunlight is made up of all colors mixed together, our eyes see only white light. It takes something special, like a rainstorm, a bit of crystal or a misty fog to reveal a rainbow. This allows each of us to see afresh the beautiful and distinctive shades of color that surround us every day. Likewise, LGBTQIA+ individuals reveal a whole new range of color in the world that reflects more fully the diverse and inspiring shades of humankind. When we take time to truly get to know individuals, to learn their stories, listen to who they are and who they love, our own capacity for seeing beauty, loving fully, and living with courage expands in infinite ways."
